HOW TO START A HEARB GARDEN

Herbs need plenty of space for their roots to grow; small pots will choke the plants.

Research each herb you would like to keep; some herbs require different watering, and grouping the same care herbs together is good.

DISCOVER THE WONDERS OF CULTIVATING HERBS IN YOUR GARDEN!

Welcome to the world of herb gardening, where the joy of cultivating your own aromatic and flavourful herbs awaits! Starting a herb garden is easier than you think. With a sunny location, well-prepared soil, your favourite herbs, proper planting, regular watering, and the delight of harvesting, you'll soon savour the freshness of homegrown herbs in your culinary creations. Let's get started.

Choose a sunny location
Find a spot in your garden that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day, as most herbs thrive in sunny conditions. You can plant herbs directly into your garden or you can buy planter boxes for a sunny spot on your patio, balcony or even your sunniest window sill.

Prepare the soil
Ensure good drainage by adding organic matter like compost or well-rotted manure.

Mix it into the soil to improve its fertility and texture. Ask our garden experts which soil and fertiliser go well together.

Get your favourite herbs
Consider your culinary preferences and choose herbs like basil, rosemary, thyme, or parsley
you can enjoy cooking with. You can also plant herbs with medical properties.

Plant the seeds or herbs
You have the choice of either sowing herb seeds directly into the prepared soil or saving time by planting already-bought herb plants or seedlings from our garden centre. If using seedlings, gently transplant them into the soil, ensuring proper spacing for healthy growth.

Water regularly
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Herbs generally require moderate watering, so check the moisture level regularly and adjust accordingly.

Harvest and enjoy!
Once the herbs have grown to a sufficient size, snip off the
desired amount of leaves or stems. Herbs need regular trimming; it promotes bushier growth and adds great flavour to your culinary creations.
